On August 18-20, 2015, DBIA and SAME hosted a successful Federal Project Delivery Symposium at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, D.C.!
There were hundreds of industry leaders and government agency personnel, including from GSA, NASA, National Guard, Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, who attended this year.
With 20 percent of attendees representing government agencies, the Symposium was a very popular event. We received positive feedback about all of the educational sessions but the most talked about included the General Session on Wednesday, August 19 titled Maximizing Success on Integrated Projects: An Owner's Guide
. This session featured members of the research team and advisory panel from the CII/Penn State/Pankow two-year research project on project delivery methods. The main finding in this research was that project delivery methods alone
do not determine success. Instead, the most successful projects follow distinct delivery strategies. Download the guide at http://projectdelivery.weebly.com/
Executive Forum Recaps
For the second year in a row DBIA and SAME incorporated Executive Forums into the Symposium. The Forums brought government and industry together to address industry concerns and achieve a better understanding of government policy and processes. Seating was limited in order to have an intimate facilitated session so debriefings from each Forum are below.
