Khartoum, Sudan, is a tough place to design and build a U.S. embassy. When the Sudanese government detained materials at the port of entry and disrupted the issuance of visas for U.S. and foreign workers, the mission became virtually impossible. It was only the dedicated efforts of the design-build team and U.S. Department of State that led to the successful completion of a secure embassy compound, finally putting the embassy staff out of harm’s way. |
