The Pentagon Renovation was the most complex renovation project in contemporary history. The project included design-build of a flexible state-of-the-art command center, complex collocations of military departments and a delicate ballet of shifting 25,000 tenants around a building multiple times without disruption to our nation’s military. |

The MetLife National Football League Stadium, constructed by Skanska USA, is the first facility built specifically to accommodate two NFL teams – the NY Giants and the NY Jets. The stadium has seating for 82,000 spectators and 217 luxury suite boxes. Completed within budget, this design-build project was a huge success for Skanska, as well as our client, and was completed five months ahead of schedule. |

The Pentagon Memorial is designed in a park-like setting on a 1.9-acre parcel of land located by the Pentagon's west face. There are the 184 Memorial Units, one for each of the victims. Each consists of a stainless steel bench that cantilevers over a pool of water and has five pieces of granite forming the seating surface. The Units are arranged by the victims' birth years and form age lines. Each bench has a victim's name inscribed on its end and the position of each bench indicates where the victim was at the time of the attack. |

This project comprised 12 buildings totaling over 530,000 square feet and 1.4 million square feet of concrete hardstand, providing staging and deployment facilities to 4,250 troops and maintenance facilities for their tactical vehicles. A design consistent with civilian sector projects and the placement of government funds into functional or operational requirements were primary owner objectives. Completed under budget and ahead of schedule, the project was rated “Outstanding” under the Federal Construction Contractor Appraisal Support System. |

University Hotel Partners was contracted as a public-private partnership to develop, design and build a 135,000-square-foot conference center and hotel facility at George Mason University's main campus. Providing a high-quality venue for campus and community events, The Mason Inn consists of a 20,000-square-foot technologically advanced conference area integrated with a 149-room hotel. It includes a restaurant, lounge, kitchen, ballroom, junior ballroom, 10 meeting rooms and a full-service laundry. The scope included an additional 35,000 square feet of underground parking and related site work, including a new campus entrance road. |

The Federal Correction Institution in Berlin, N.H., is a 678,000-square-foot 27-building campus that houses a medium and minimum security prison. Located on a 700-acre site, it accommodates aproximately 1,688 inmates in three four-story general housing units and the minimum security prison’s single-story dormitory. It was completed on time and within budget despite harsh weather conditions, which included three winters with record snow falls, and challenging terrain consisting of difficult-to-work-with glacial till material. |

Engineering Unit 3 was the 7th project in the collage of buildings constructed by Hensel Phelps on the University of California, Irvine, campus. The project provided 122,000 GSF primarily consisting of wet and dry labs for five engineering departments and a 340-seat lecture hall. The facility is used to foster a growing trend toward collaborative inquiry between faculty in the School of Information and Computer Sciences and the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology. |

The Osher Building project has been deemed a great success for the Regents of the University of California. The completed project not only met the University’s goals, but exceeded expectations. After a rigorous RFP process, the University selected SKS/Plant, A Joint Venture in association with KMD Architects, to plan, design, construct and finance a 48,000 GSF, five-story medical office building. The project’s success can be attributed to the team’s collaborative spirit and it stands as a find example of a true public-private partnership. |

The RMB, targeting LEED Gold certification, houses the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCSF. Nestled in the sloping hillside of UCSF’s Parnassus Campus, the $123-million, 660-foot-long RMB features a serpentine design with four split-level floors and terraced living roofs, sitting on a structural framework 40 to 70 feet off the ground. |

The Denver Central Platte Campus was a $28-million fixed-price design-build competition for the Denver Public Works Department. A collaborative design-build process was successfully employed to achieve optimal efficiency and a compelling design aesthetic. The Central Platte facility exhibits the seamless coupling of sustainable design with superior functionality, while establishing a well organized circulation plan for the 18-acre campus. At 105,000 square feet, the Denver Central Platte Campus is on track to achieve LEED-NC Gold. |

The William A. Jones III Building is a 380,000-square-foot, five-story facility dedicated on March 22, 2011. This fast-track design-build project required completion in just two years to meet tight BRAC deadlines for moving Department of Defense personnel from leased space in the National Capital Region onto Andrews Air Force Base. It contains flexible office space for 2,500 people with the ability to expand and contains a courts wing with the base Trial Court and the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals complex. The project has been certified LEED Gold. |

Spaning over 222,000 square feet, the RSF uses "free energy" in the Colorado climate and integrates an array of energy-efficient and passive-energy features, including daylighting, operable windows, thermal mass, natural ventilation, triple-pane glazing, photovoltaics and radiant heating/cooling. |

It includes a four-story, 440,000-square-foot headquarters building with offices, command suite, computer data center, conference and traianing rooms and the command center. The renovation of Cheney Stadium was completed in a single seven-month off season through a highly collaborative design-build partnership with the City of Tacoma. Mortenson Construction led the design-build team with Belay Architecture and Populous Sports. The project included demolition of the existing pre-cast structure, excavation of a new concourse, addition of an elevated two-story skybox, suite and restaurant space. All new concessions and restrooms, as well as new entry and ticketing at home base and left field were constructed. The design took advantage of dramatic views of Mt. Rainier while incorporating a Pacific Northwest theme. |

Returning a Jackson, Miss., landmark to its original grandeur, Clayco, Inc., has completed a massive environmental clean-up and renovation project for the former King Edward Hotel. Plans included significant rehabilitation of both the structure's interior and exterior architecture details. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 12-story mixed-use building reopened in late 2009 as the Hilton Garden Inn-Jackson and as Apartments at the King Edward. |

The M. A. The Terminal Area Improvement Program included the complete transformation of Mineta San Jose International Airport, including new and renovated terminal buildings, a convenient one-of-a-kind consolidated rental car facility, a simplified roadway system with convenient bypasses to alleviate congestion, state-of-the-art security checkpoints and baggage systems and sustainable features, including a 3.3-acre, 1-megawatt solar farm. With the concurrent management of nine major project elements valued between $20 and $231 million, design-build allowed all stakeholders to truly collaborate on a daily basis. This led to trust, honesty and open communication, resulting in the program being delivered under budget and ahead of schedule. |

The Southwest Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Project was a $130.8-million, 15.1-mgd expansion, successfully delivered under a progressive design-build contract with no missed days of operation. The project was issued as a work authorization under the City’s larger Facilities Expansion Program, which consisted of more than 75 projects valued at $873 million. The Southwest WRF Project added much-needed treatment capacity to accommodate the City’s record growth and corresponding expanded utility service infrastructure. |

The H.L. Mooney Expansion project expanded the existing 18 MGD-rated capacity to 24 MGD. The project was time-critical due to a need to be licensed to operate at the increased flow prior to a nutrient loading mandate being imposed by the Chesapeake Bay Commission set for implementation on December 31, 2010. The contract was entered into in October 2007 and on September 30, 2010, the design-build team forwarded the request to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality requesting licensure at the higher process flow rate. |

Okaloosa County Water and Sewer Department teamed with CDM to construct a new, state-of-the-art, 10-mgd facility featuring biological nutrient removal and ultraviolet disinfection. The facility, which replaced an aging plant with insufficient treatment capacity, incorporated 3D/4D design and addressed various concerns, including redundancy, future expansion and ease of operation. The Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility now produces high-quality reclaimed water for groundwater recharge and the facility’s 4D model supports efficient operations for years to come. |

The U.S. Department of Energy's Research Support Facility at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory is recognized as the nation's largest net-zero energy office building and is certified LEED Platinum for New Construction by the USGBC. Spaning over 222,000 square feet, the RSF uses "free energy" in the Colorado climate and integrates an array of energy-efficient and passive-energy features, including daylighting, operable windows, thermal mass, natural ventilation, triple-pane glazing, photovoltaics and radiant heating/cooling. |
