William G. Hasbrook, Jr., DBIA

Transportation Leadership Award - Individual Owner

With more than 30 years in the industry, Mr. Hasbrook is regarded as a strong advocate of design-build in both the public and private sectors. A member of DBIA since 1993, he has served at chapter, regional, and national levels, including on both the Transportation and Education Committees, on Southeast and Southwest Regional Boards, as a national instructor, and as the moderator of the first-ever individual session on transportation.

He has worked on the construction, design, and integrated sides of almost every sector of industry including transportation, power, process, commercial, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, heavy/civil, defense, and manufacturing, with combined project values totaling in the billions of dollars.  Focusing on transportation, he has been on the ground floor of promoting and influencing design-build among a number of state departments of transportation (DOT). From countless early presentations on the merits and legality of design-build, through serving on joint DOT/industry design-build committees, to consulting with decision makers on design-build best practices, he has been influential in promoting design-build across numerous state lines.

Not stopping there, he has also been instrumental in fostering the vision of and his enthusiasm for design-build through such programs, organizations, and forums as Junior Achievement, Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Small Business Administration (SBA), and industry days at local middle and high schools, ensuring that this valuable project delivery method is not only shared with different facets of our industry, but also anchored in the minds of our next generation of leaders and professionals.
