Meritorious Service Award
Matthew M. McDole, P.E. joined the consulting firm of LS Gallegos & Associates Inc in January 2009 after over 13 years as Chief Engineer at the E-470 Public Highway Authority. In his over 40 years of experience, he has also held the top engineering management position at the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) and the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD). Mr. McDole also has engineering and construction experience with the Southern Pacific Railroad and a consulting firm (Kellogg Corporation) where he was a Principal and Manager of Construction Services. At E-470, he managed the planning, environmental work, intergovernmental agreements, design and construction of the expansion of the toll road from 5 to 47 route miles. The expansion was accomplished primarily through three large design-build contracts.
Mr. McDole is the Immediate Past President of the Colorado Section of The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is the 2008-2009 President of the Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI) of ASCE. Matt is a Registered Professional Engineer in California and Colorado.
Mr. McDole chaired the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) Transportation Owner’s Council from 2004 through 2009. He has participated on the Annual DBIA Transportation Conference Committee every year since 2000 as the ASCE/T&DI liaison. Matt was Co-chair of the 2003 DBIA Transportation Conference in Marina del Rey. He also was the DBIA Rocky Mountain Region Owner’s Council Chair from 2003 through 2009.
Matt has also been active in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) serving on the Construction Management Committee and the Design Build Task Force which has now become the Project Delivery Methods Committee. He is also the Immediate Past Chair of the International Bridge Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) Engineering and Design Committee. Over his career Mr. McDole has authored numerous papers and presentations. Over the last 15 years, many of these have been on Design Build.
