Promotions and New Hires

ARCADIS adds McNulty

ARCADIS has hired Peter F. McNulty, P.E., as vice president in the U.S. Infrastructure Division. He will work with the company’s public clients to develop and manage major heavy infrastructure projects using design-build and public-private partnerships, as well as more traditional methods. Mr. McNutly will be based in the Braintree, Mass., office.

Beck Expands Leadership

The Beck Group has named four new managing directors to its national operation. They are Fred Perpall in the Eastern Division; Matt Williamson for Central and South Texas; Mark Collins as managing director and CFO; and Brad Philips, managing director, Strategic Pursuits.

McGonagle Joins Parsons

Joseph P. McGonagle has joined Parsons’ Infrastructure & Technology Group. He will be based in Washington, D.C.


Projects

New Contracts

Municipality Selects CH2M HILL

In August, East Huron, Ontario, chose CH2M HILL to operate, maintain and manage its water and wastewater facilities. The contract will run for five years, with an option to extend it for another five.

One Firm, Multiple Projects

The University of California, Riverside, selected Barnhart Balfour Beatty to be the construction manager at risk for a LEED Gold targeted $104-million apartment village to house more than 800 students.

In Ireland, Balfour Beatty, in a consortium with the Royal BAM Group, was named as the preferred bidder for a £250 million road project. The company will design, build, finance and maintain about 57 km of the N17/N18 motorway in the Atlantic road corridor.

Navy Picks Joint Venture

The U.S. Navy has awarded BRDC, a joint venture of dck worldwide and Burns and Roe Services Corporation, a $64.5 million contract for the new Navy Family Housing & Fitness Center renovation at the Guantanamo Bay base. Design has begun, construction is expected to begin in November and be completed in 25 months.

New Desalination Plant in Aruba

Two Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies affiliates – N.A. Water Systems and QTV – have been awarded a contract to design and build a 24,000 m3/D, 6.34-MGD desalination facility on the island of Aruba.

AECOM to Design, Build, in Florida

AECOM Technology Corporation has been selected for a $101-million design-build water and wastewater project in Davie, Fla. The company will design and build a six-MGD brackish water membrane treatment plant and a 3.5-MGD membrane water reclamation facility.

MARTA to Upgrade Fire Protection System

M.C. Dean Inc. has been chosen by MARTA – Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority – to upgrade the system’s fire protection. The $32 million project is funded by a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Design-Build Team Selected

The San Jose city staff has selected the design-build team of Hunt Construction Group and Populous to perform what is expected to be more than $100 million in renovations at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center.

Under Construction

Proton Therapy Center Begun

On August 5, Haskell Design-Build broke ground for Scripps Health’s new $185 million center in San Diego. The centerpiece of the 102,000-square-foot center will be a 90-ton cyclotron, which will make it possible to treat patients with accurately targeted and shaped beams that can hit tumors while avoiding healthy tissue.

Pro Con Renovating Dining Hall

Pro Con Inc. has signed on as the architect and construction manager for the design-build renovation of Easton Dining Hall and Gillies Café at Gordon College in Wenham, Mass. The first phase of the project will involve completely renovating the interiior of the dining hall; the second will build a new vestibule, enlarging the café and renovating its interior.
