Everette L. Herndon, Jr., P.E., DBIA, is the building construction management Engineer and the head of the Facilities Design and Construction Division in the Office of the City Engineer, Public Works Department, for the City of Virginia Beach, Va. He has been with the City of Virginia Beach for 15 years and the last 12 years in his current position.
Prior to his tenure with the City of Virginia Beach, he served a 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, Civil Engineer Corps, retiring at the rank of Commander in 1994. During his career, he was assigned to seven duty stations across the country with two overseas assignments.
Mr. Herndon has been an active member of the Hampton Roads Chapter of DBIA since the Chapter was formed two years ago. He served on the steering committee that started the Chapter and now serves on its Board of Directors. Additionally, he organized, recruited, and established the Owners Council for the Chapter and serves as the Chairman of the Council.
Mr. Herndon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., and a Master of Science in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif., with a subspecialty in financial management/resource allocation.
