John Martin provides oversight and leadership of the Flintco Texas Division based in Austin, Texas. With a 25-year track record of excellence in construction management, Mr. Martin’s diverse career includes work in commercial, industrial, retail, educational, athletics, lab, high-tech and historical renovation in both the public and private sectors. Among the many client relationships Mr. Martin has developed, he has grown the Flintco relationship with the University of Texas System to the extent that Flintco is a key provider of construction services for this major university system. Under Mr. Martin’s leadership, the Austin Flintco office has won numerous national and regional awards for Construction Excellence, Design-Build Excellence and Excellence in Safety from the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Design-Build Institute of America and the Associated General Contractors. Other distinctions the Flintco Texas operations office has garnered under Mr. Martin’s leadership include a 2003 national Marvin M. Black Award for Partnering, completion of the UT System’s first LEED® Certified building and achievement of the number six ranking in the Best Companies to Work for in Texas survey conducted by the Texas Association of Business. Mr. Martin has earned the DBIA Designation from the Design-Build Institute of America and has served the executive board of the five-state Southwest DBIA Chapter as treasurer, vice president and president. He gradated in 1986 from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management. He has been an OSU Construction Management Advisory Board (CMAB) executive board member since 1996 and served as president of that organization from 2004 to 2007. Other affiliations and memberships include Texas A&M University Construction Industry Council, California Center for Construction Education Advisory Board Membership, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce board member, University Federal Credit Union board member, Real Estate Council of Austin, Austin-San Antonio Corridor Council and ACE Mentoring Austin Chapter, serving a founding board member and as Chair in 2004-2007. Mr. Martin has a strong background in leadership development and partnering and is a sought-after speaker and leadership development facilitator.
