Principal-in-Charge
The Crosby Group
Patrick Crosby established the Crosby Group in 1992 and serves as President and Managing Principal. An innovator in the field of structural engineering, he stays abreast of structural and seismic design solutions from around the world and has introduced several of the cutting edge technologies to projects in the U.S. Mr. Crosby has led the engineering community in the implementation of passive energy dissipation devices (dampers), buckling restrained brace frames, composites and shock transmission units. The application of these technologies has resulted in safer buildings at a reduced cost to our valued clients.
Mr. Crosby has an extensive background in design-build projects, with his first being the SFSU Residence Hall ($45M) in 1988 and his most recent the South Com Headquarters Project that won the ASCE Project of the Year for the Miami Area. With over $2 billion in design-build project experience, Mr. Crosby recognizes the key ingredients for successful design-build teams and can add assist any design-build team in reaching DBIA goals for design-build projects.
Mr. Crosby holds a Secret Clearance.
Project Experience:
State Department OBO Hazard Mitigation IDIW, Washington D.C. This three-year open-end contract is to address any natural hazard that poses a threat to State Department buildings worldwide. These include seismic, wind, landslide, tsunami and others. Current.
South Com Headquarters, Doral, Florida – Design-Build. This new design-build project is approximately 672,000 square feet and will accommodate 2,883 staff. The campus consolidates all of the SOUTHCOM coalition and interagency functional elements into a new mission-capable facility for the U.S. Southern Command and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. There are three levels of security zones designated in the complex: Unclassified, SECRET and Top Secret/Sensitive. The campus meets Department of Defense anti-terrorism, force protection (ATFP) and security requirements. $213 million, 2009
Marin County HOJ Seismic Upgrade, San Rafael, California – Seismic upgrade of fully occupied county courts facility (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) using new technologies; BRBFs, shock transmission units and FRP. $24 million, 2002
Palm Springs Convention Center, Palm Spring, California - 100,000-square-foot addition to existing center while fully operational. By converting existing lateral frames to free spanning trusses tied to new lateral bracing, the existing exhibit hall was able to remain open and operational. $36 million, 2005
