Captain James Lovell, NASA Legend and Apollo 13 Commander
Opening Keynote
Wednesday, October 19
2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
An experienced naval aviator and test pilot, Captain James Lovell, Jr. was selected for the space program in 1962. In less than a decade, Lovell became one of the first humans to leave the earth’s gravitational force. He served as command module pilot and navigator for the epic six-day Apollo 8 journey -- humanity’s maiden voyage to the moon. Lovell served as backup commander to Neil Armstrong for the Apollo 11 lunar landing mission. Lovell incorporates the lessons gleaned from those extraordinary missions to the goals and ambitions of ordinary organizations, proving that even during challenging times, innovation and new heights of leadership are possible.
