Design-Build in Transportation Conference!

Design-build continues to increase its market share in the transportation sectors. One reflection of this expansion: Attendance at DBIA’s 2011 Design-Build in Transportation conference increased 30% over 2010. In August, a White House Memorandum commended the Federal Highway Administration noting, “On the construction side, the agency is encouraging State use of acceleration techniques like design-build.” More recently, Governor Cuomo of New York State announced bipartisan support for design-build legislation that is considered key to the state’s proposed infrastructure fund—an amazing development considering New York’s historic commitment to design-bid-build. Combine these developments with the continued emergence of P3s and one thing is clear: Design-Build remains in a growth position!

Did you miss a presentation?   

It can be difficult to select a session when four compelling educational tracks are offered simultaneously. This year, DBIA partnered with Terracon to record select presentations at the 2012 Design-Build in Transportation Conference in Arizona. Launched in 2011, Terracon’s Green Light Series is an ongoing effort to broaden the discussion about innovative trends and practices in the transportation industry. Highlights of DBIA’s conference program are now available at www.terracon.com/greenlight .

The series features experts from A/E firms, city government, DOTs and industry organizations, speaking on topics including design-build, public-private partnerships, collaboration and partnering as well as the latest innovations in transportation.
