DBIA'S Design-Build EDUCATOR WORKSHOP
"Because teaching is not a profession - it's a passion"

RESCHEDULED -- OCTOBER 30-31, 2007
(in conjunction with the Design-Build Conference and Expo)
Dallas (Grapevine), Texas
REVISED AGENDA TO COME

The purpose of this workshop is to assist faculty from leading universities in determining ways to incorporate DBIA's core courses into their curriculum so that students receive a well-rounded education that includes opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction within the college through coursework. With design-build rapidly increasing as the project delivery method of choice, it will become more important than ever for students to gain an understanding not only of the technical aspects of their chose field, but of the importance of teamwork, collaboration and integration that is the cornerstone of integrated project delivery.

The workshop will be led by Barbara Jackson, a professor at CalPoly.  Consistently ranked as the best public largely undergraduate university in the West by U.S. News & World Report, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is a competitive institution with an emphasis on a comprehensive undergraduate education. For over 100 years, Cal Poly has combined a theoretical approach to its curriculum, with practical experience that upholds its reputation of offering a 'learn-by-doing' education. Cal Poly is the only university in the country with a minor in Integrated Project Delivery, and the curriculum incorporates several components of DBIA's core courses. For these, and many other reasons, Barbara Jackson is perfectly suited to lead this program.
