David Bloxom is President of Speed Fab-Crete Corporation, a 55-year-old design-build general contracting firm. The company also is the oldest continually operating precast concrete manufacturer in the Southwest. Mr. Bloxom has helped guide Speed Fab-Crete over the past 35 years to become one of the top 20 building contractors in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The Fort Worth-based firm, founded more than a half century ago, has been ranked among the top 116 builders in Texas by Texas Construction Magazine and is recognized among the highly-rated specialty contractors in the state. The firm's high profile projects include schools, government facilities, auto dealerships, churches, and many other specialty facilities.
Mr. Bloxom is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America and serves as a board member and past president of the DBIA-Southwest Region. As Southwest Region President for two years, he was a key spokesperson and advocate in the construction industry media for the use of design-build in the industry. He recently authored a guest column in Texas Construction Magazine (April 2009) on "Design-Build: Ready to Meet the Economic Challenges of 2009."
He also has been certified as a "Designated Design-Builder Professional" by DBIA. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Construction Research Center at the University of Texas at Arlington and Associated General Contractors of America, TEXO Chapter. His community and civic activities include membership in Leadership Fort Worth and he is a former member of the Fort Worth Independent School District Board of Education. Mr. Bloxom earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago. He had been married to Julia for over 35 years and they have two daughters and a son.
