Industry Partner membership allows an entire organization to enjoy many of the benefits of DBIA membership. DBIA’s current Industry Partner members include general contractors, architectural/engineering firms, specialty contractor firms, manufacturers/suppliers, insurance companies, legal firms, government agencies, private owners and academic institutions – the only organization that makes whole the industry’s many parts.
Industry Partner Owner Nomination Program
In an effort to expand the pool of educated owners, DBIA offers each industry partner member contact, benefit recipient or additional contact the opportunity to nominate one public or private owner for individual level membership. See details of the program here.
You'll need:
The owner sponsorship form
The individual membership application
(these forms are PDFs which can be filled in and e-mailed to membership@dbia.org; save the files to your computer, then fill in the blanks and save with all your information before sending)
Organizations with DBIA Industry Partner membership receive copies of DBIA’s new quarterly journal, IQ: Integration Quarterly, as well as our weekly e-newsletter, Design-Build Insight. They have access to DBIA’s business growth tools – epipeline and project leads, reports on state and federal legislation, new business opportunities and industry news. Member discounts for all DBIA products and services – courses, conferences, publications – are extended to all employees of the organization. Members can also receive the Design-Build Manual of Practice as a member benefit. Log in and download the chapters.
Each year, DBIA offers three conferences that give attendees an opportunity to learn about design-build at its best, meet industry leaders and network with owners and practitioners. The Design-Build Conference and Expo is held each autumn and covers the widest range of design-build projects. The Design-Build in Transportation and Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conferences focus on those industry segments, offering a more detailed view of those specialties. The Federal Sector Conference focuses on government projects. All conferences feature the Owners’ Forums, which give project owners an opportunity to meet with their peers and discuss problems and solutions common to all.
DBIA’s annual Education Tour is notable not only for the range and quality of its continuing education courses, but for bringing them to convenient locations for all those interested. These are practical courses, teaching the actual process used in successful design-build project delivery.
The highly regarded Designated Design-Build Professional™ is now often preferred, if not required, when project owners are looking for a design-builder. This credential demonstrates that a person who is entitled to put “DBIA” after their name has confirmed their expertise in both the theory and practice of design-build project delivery at its best. DBIA members receive a substantial discount on the DBIA courses and conferences that provide the credits needed to earn this credential.
Strategic Opportunities
DBIA membership gives organizations access to a number of business tools but Industry Partner members, in addition, are authorized to use the statement “DBIA Industry Partner” and the DBIA logo on their marketing materials. Their logo and a 75-word company listing will appear in the annual Membership Directory. The online “Find a Professional” search engine will help those looking for design-builders find them. Industry Partners also receive a discount for advertising in any DBIA venue, booths at conference expos and for posting job openings on DBIA’s CareerSpot.
DBIA members receive the new quarterly journal, IQ: Integration Quarterly, as a benefit, as well as the weekly e-newsletter, Design-Build Insight, highlighting notices of news and business opportunities. Members also receive a discount when they purchase any publication from DBIA, including the design-build contract documents, which are only available from DBIA.
DBIA supports a network of 14 Regions, which offer many of the benefits of DBIA National, but are available locally and address issues unique to those areas. Membership in DBIA National automatically includes membership in a member’s local Region.
DBIA members actively participate in a wide range of committee activities such as planning conferences, developing publications and commenting on legislation.
Each year, DBIA presents awards to design-build professionals who exemplify and promote excellence in integrated project delivery. We also strive to recognize firms who have produced top-notch projects through the design-build awards competition. Candidates are considered for the awards based on the successful application of design-build principles and, while membership in DBIA is not necessary to compete, Industry Partner members enjoy a discount on the entry fee
Network
In today’s environment of increased competition, diminishing resources, and unexpected challenges, the need for cross-sector collaboration is more important than ever before. DBIA proudly stands as the only membership organization bringing together thousands of organizations and individuals representing architects, engineers, public and private owners, general and specialty contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, students, college and university faculty, legal, insurance and finance professionals, consultants and many more. Only at DBIA do all these professionals meet face-to-face as equals engaged in a sincere effort to indentify challenges and develop solutions that benefit the entire industry – not just and individual segment. For this reason alone, no matter what other specialized organization you belong to, DBIA membership is essential.
