Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Issues Position Statements that Address Design-Build Best Practices and "Integrated Project Delivery"

Washington, DC, May 3, 2010 – Today, DBIA, the design and construction industry’s resource for leadership, objective expertise and best practices in integrated delivery of capital projects, released three position statements approved during the April 19, 2010, meeting of its Board of Directors. These statements are the first of several to be developed over the course of the next year in order to continually disseminate design-build best practices and teach effective integration of design and construction services.

New Design-Build Model Contracts “Raise the Bar”
– The Design-Build Institute of America announced that it will release new design-build model contracts on May 7, 2009. The new documents build on DBIA’s first edition of model contracts released in 1999, but recognize that design-build participants need to be provided more flexibility and that a “one size” contract cannot fit all situations.

Design-Build Institute of America Announces Leadership Transition
– Washington, DC - The Design-Build Institute of America announced that Lisa Washington, CAE will assume the role of Executive Director upon the retirement of current DBIA President and CEO Lee Evey. The transition will be complete by June 2009. As Executive Director, Washington will serve as DBIA’s chief executive and will be accountable directly to the DBIA Board of Directors.

DBIA Extends with PAI for Conferences and Membership; Establishes Agreement with Naylor, LLC for DATELINE
– Washington, DC - The Design-Build Institute of America has extended its long-term relationship with PAI Sales Inc., and its principal Patrick Wilson, to continue to support DBIA's conferences with sales and marketing services for exhibits and sponsorships. In addition, DBIA has entered into an agreement with Naylor, LLC., to become the publisher of DBIA's Design-Build DATELINE journal. This new relationship will begin with the May 2009 issue of the journal.
