Louis Jenny Joins Design-Build Institute of America

As Vice-President of Advocacy and Outreach Jenny will head both advocacy and communications.

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is pleased to announce that Louis J. Jenny has assumed the position of Vice-President of Advocacy and Outreach. In this role he will strengthen the organization as the preeminent resource for leadership, education, and objective expertise in the integrated delivery of capital projects.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with DBIA Executive Director Lisa Washington, the National Board, and the staff to advance design-build and design-build procurement authority at all levels of government,” Jenny said. “As champion of the fastest growing project delivery method today, DBIA and DBIA best practices represent the future of integrated design and construction.” Ms. Washington, who also serves as DBIA’s Chief Executive Officer, praised Jenny’s extensive background in both advocacy and communications. “This position represents a significant expansion of DBIA’s reach. Under Louis’s oversight, our existing government affairs and public relations staff will be able to function more strategically. I’m confident the result will be even greater awareness of design-build and, more importantly, design-build done right,” Washington said.

Jenny brings a wealth of relevant experience and expertise to DBIA. He comes to the Institute from the Carmen Group, where he provided legislative and regulatory counsel, with particular emphasis on the water and infrastructure sectors. His knowledge of water infrastructure is deep and reflects 15 years in leadership positions with the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC). At NAWC, Jenny served nine years as Director of Congressional Relations before becoming Deputy Executive Director. In this role, he oversaw the implementation of the Association’s entire federal legislative, regulatory, and political program, as well as the Public Affairs program, including press relations and communications. Jenny began his career in the office of then-U.S. Representative Jack Brooks, serving first as Legislative Assistant and then Legislative Director.
