Stephen Meima joins Design-Build Institute of America

As Director of Marketing and Membership Meima will head both key audience engagement and member acquisition and retention.

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) is pleased to announce that Stephen H. Meima has assumed the position of Director of Marketing and Membership. In this role he will help strengthen the organization as the preeminent resource for leadership, education, and objective expertise in the integrated delivery of capital projects.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with DBIA Executive Director Lisa Washington, the National Board, and the staff to promote the value of design-build project delivery,” Meima said. “As champion of the fastest growing project delivery method today, DBIA and DBIA best practices represent the future of integrated design and construction.” Ms. Washington, who also serves as DBIA’s Chief Executive Officer, praised Meima’s extensive background in marketing and customer relations. “This position will contribute significantly to DBIA’s visibility and influence, from the National to the Region and grassroots levels. Under Meima’s oversight, our marketing process and articulation of our value to owners and practitioners will be more strategic,” Washington said.

Meima brings a wealth of relevant experience and expertise to DBIA. He comes to the Institute from global building materials supplier Lafarge, where for 12 years he served in marketing and communications leadership roles with a purview of the U.S. and Canada. At Lafarge, he worked closely with design professionals and the trades providing education on product use, systems and sustainable building concepts and strategies. Meima recently earned a LEED Green Associate accreditation to enhance his ability to serve both owners and practitioners. Prior to Lafarge, Meima served as Director of Promotion for the Gypsum Association representing and furthering the interests of gypsum drywall manufacturers in North America. Meima earned an MBA from Marymount University in 2000 and an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America in 2008.
