DESIGN-BUILD INSTITUTE OF AMERICA TO ISSUE NEW PUBLICATION IN 2011

Comprehensive quarterly journal will replace Design-Build Dateline as DBIA’s official publication.

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) will issue a quarterly journal beginning in 2011, with the first issue expected to debut at DBIA’s back-to-back Design-Build in Transportation and Design-Build for Water/Wastewater conferences in late March.

As interest in integrated delivery grows, owners and practitioners are turning to design-build in rapidly increasing numbers. Now more than ever before, DBIA members and certified practitioners require substantive information about how design-build is evolving to meet demand. DBIA’s new publication will examine issues relevant to owners and practitioners engaged in, or considering, the use of design-build. Articles and interviews will highlight lessons learned on vertical and horizontal projects from both public and private sectors. Disseminating best practices and sharing the latest research and thinking surrounding the delivery method is the primary goal of DBIA’s new publication effort.

Since the latter half of 2004, Design-Build Dateline has been the official journal of DBIA and the vehicle through which the Institute has provided information on a monthly basis. After a thorough analysis of the publication format and content, DBIA has made a strategic decision to cease publication of Dateline with the December 2010 issue. A more comprehensive approach to information sharing — and a new title that accurately reflects the current market trends — are among the goals of the quarterly journal. Design-Build Insight, DBIA’s weekly e-newsletter, will continue to bring the latest industry news directly to DBIA members.

“This shift in strategy reflects the mission, direction and goals of the Institute, and DBIA greatly anticipates the premier issue of the quarterly,” said DBIA Executive Director Lisa Washington. “We are confident our publication will provide even greater value to members, readers, advertisers and the industry at large.”

DBIA has selected The YGS Group of York, Pennsylvania, as their editorial and advertising partner. A media kit and editorial calendar for the quarterly will be released shortly.
