Denver, CO — Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come one come all to the most exciting and awesome integrated engineering and construction conference of the year! DBIA’s annual conference is shaping up to be one of the best conferences we have ever held. As you all know, DBIA conferences are known for presenting the owner’s perspective on design-build, sharing best practices with colleagues, and networking with fellow professionals. Under the able leadership of Committee Chairman Tom Wierdsma, this year’s conference has a rich menu of education and networking events. The schedule includes:
- Ken Schmidt, Former Harley-Davidson Executive and Communications Expert, and one of the most in-demand speakers and communications consultants in America, will open with the keynote address.
- All attendees who registered by August 15 are entered into a drawing for a Harley Davidson motorcycle to be given away during the keynote address. A second Harley will be given away on the Expo floor. Just make sure to attend the Expo — you must be there to win!
- Lieutenant General Carl A. Strock, Commander and Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will serve as the opening Plenary Session speaker.
- Hear from major public owners as the State Department, the Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, and others take part in a panel discussion aimed at providing valuable insight into each organization’s challenges, successes, and best practices utilizing design-build project delivery.
- The prestigious Minds and MasterWorks gala dinner on November 9 will showcase outstanding projects from the 2005 Design-Build Awards competition. This dinner, in addition to honoring project excellence in our industry, raises money to fund the Foundation for Integrated Services’ research projects.
- The Owner’s Forum is an opportunity for public and private owners to share their experiences, advice, and accomplishments about design-build project delivery. Note that attendance is restricted to owners only, and there is no charge for this event.
- With over 200 exhibitors, our Expo hall will offer increased value this year, providing an opportunity to learn about new products, get advice from industry experts, and network with leaders in the field. An added feature will be the “Product/Service Showcase” — an opportunity to get up close and personal with innovative materials and products that will revolutionalize the design and construction industries.
The five educational tracks will be:
- Acquisitions and Contracts
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Communication, Teamwork, and Integration
- Project/Process Management
- High Performance Materials/Software
The theme of this year’s conference is Building on the Promise: Successfully Implementing Integrated Projects. The sessions will provide cutting edge knowledge; innovative, replicable, and effective strategies; as well as tools and tactics to help industry professionals successfully execute integrated projects. We expect robust attendance in Las Vegas, including the highest number of owner attendees of any conference in DBIA’s history.
You and I will be joined by nearly 1,500 owners, architects, engineers, general and specialty contractors, acquisition professionals, project managers, and many other industry leaders who represent the entire spectrum of integrated project delivery services. Attendees can expect to learn practical and innovative ways to position themselves and their companies to respond successfully to new opportunities, changing market forces, and the evolving needs and preferences of customers. These benefits from the conference are definitely worth the time and money invested.
This year’s conference is a must-attend event for anyone involved in integrated project delivery. So get your motor running, and get on the road to success with DBIA. I look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas this fall!
