DBIA’s 2005 Professional Design-Build Conference and Expo

“Building on the Promise: Successfully Implementing Integrated Projects”
More Learning — More Networking — More Excitement — More Fun

Are you ready for the biggest and most spectacular DBIA event yet? “Get your motor running” as DBIA prepares to provide you with more networking, more education, more excitement and more fun at our 2005 Professional Design-Build Conference and Expo. This year’s conference will be held November 8-10 at the Las Vegas Hilton and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, with optional pre-conference activities taking place on November 7.

Over 37 million people visit Las Vegas each year. Circus performers fly overhead in one casino, while singing cowgirls entertain customers in another. In need of a thrill or two? Why not ride a roller coaster a thousand feet in the sky. Or, for a change of pace, enter the sanctuary of a gallery for some of the world’s finest works of art. Everywhere you turn, you’ll find something extraordinary to see or do.

In addition to being held in one of the world’s most exciting cities, and what has become an ideal family vacation destination, this year’s conference promises an educational program full of innovative, cutting-edge topics guaranteed to help you grow personally and professionally. Join us in Vegas and take advantage of:

  • High quality, multi-faceted educational sessions in five exciting tracks; all focused on “how to” and implementation — (a) Acquisitions and Contracts; (b) Quality Assurance/Quality Control ; (c) Communication, Teamwork and Integration; (d) Project/Process Management ; and (e) High Performance Materials/Software;
  • Sessions specially designed for varying skill levels, with something for everyone including instruction at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels;
  • Networking opportunities in abundance that will connect you with key industry players, decision-makers and peers;
  • The world’s largest design-build expo, with nearly 200 exhibitors representing all segments of the industry;
  • “Product/Service” showcases during expo hours — an opportunity for a sampling of exhibitors to provide 20-minute presentations and demonstrations specific to their products and services. A special classroom will be part of the Expo floor to make attendance easy and convenient.

Opening Lunch and Keynote by Ken Schmidt (“Make Some Noise”)

PLUS Two Harley-Davidson Giveaways

As the former director of communications for Harley-Davidson Motor Company™, Ken Schmidt was actively involved in that company’s dramatic transformation into one of the world’s most recognized and celebrated brands. He will share stories of building an entirely new corporate culture, rekindling relations with customers, and reaching out to new ones in untraditional ways. His ideas, presented with energy and passion, offer companies ways to be distinct, enabling them to stand out from their competitors and build a competitive advantage.

One lucky attendee will walk away from the opening General Session with a brand new Harley-Davidson 1200C. But that’s not the only chance to be a winner. Another Harley will be given away on the Expo Floor, along with many, many more valuable prizes such as iPODs, portable DVD players, valuable gift certificates, etc.

Participation by Key Public Owners

Both the opening and closing plenary sessions with take a look at the some of the current and future design and construction goals of key public owners, and the important role DBIA members can play in assuring that the goals of these organizations are met. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain insight into their selection processes for both design services and construction procurement, and learn how, as public owners, these organizations remain consistent, open, competitive, and free of political influence.

Lt. General Carl A. Strock, Commander and Chief of Engineers of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will address attendees at the opening plenary. The Corps play a critical role in our nation’s well-being, and their commitment to construct projects better, faster, and more economically, closely aligns with our conference theme and DBIA’s mission.

For the closing plenary, attendees will hear from major Public Owners including the State Department, the Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, as representatives from each take part in a panel discussion aimed at providing valuable insight into each organization’s challenges, successes, and best practices utilizing design-build project delivery.
