CMAA Person of the Year

Herndon, VA — James Ruddell, a senior engineering manager at Parsons Brinckerhoff has been named Person of the Year by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA).

Cook Honored

St. Louis, MO — Kimberly Cook, general counsel and director of subcontractor diversity at Clayco, has been named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class of 2007.

Awards for Flintco

Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK — Flintco, Inc., has been honored with “Building Excellence” awards by the Oklahoma Chapter of the American General Contractors of America in both categories in which it submitted projects. The projects were the Koweta Indian Health Facility and the Dell Computer Corporation’s office complex.

B&V Expands

Kansas City, MO — Black & Veatch is expanding its geographic information systems offering within its global water business. The company has promoted Paul Ginther to head of the GIS Department within its water business.

Singapore — Black & Veatch officially opened its Global Design Centre for water in Singapore on February 7. At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, B&V was presented with the Singapore Economic Development Board’s International Headquarters Award.

PCS Moves

Cleveland, OH — Project & Construction Services, Inc. (PCS) has moved downtown, doubling the size of their headquarters to allow for current and future space needs. PCS has branch offices in Phoenix, AZ, and Wheeling, WV.

Hartford, CT — The Connecticut Laborers’ District Council announced that Charles LeConche, business manager and secretary/treasurer, has also been appointed international representative for the Laborers’ New England Region.

Bannett Recycles

Cherry Hill, NJ — The Bannett Group has started a new program to recycle paper and now recycles some 60 percent of the 1,500 pounds they use each month.

Alexandria, VA — The Construction Specifications Institute announced that Walter T. Marlowe, P.E., CAE, has been selected as the new executive director and chief executive officer.

ASC Releases Guide

Bethesda, MD — The Adhesive and Sealant Council announced the release of its ASTM-ISO Standards Comparative Guide at the beginning of the year. The guide provides a general comparative reference of adhesive testing standrds between ASTM International standards and related ISO standards.

Dallas, TX — The 2008 International Roofing Expo® will return to the convention center in Las Vegas, NV.

Construction Management Graduates

New York, NY — Skanska USA Building Inc. announced that it has graduated 46 minority contractors in its first construction management program in conjunction with New York’s Medgar Evers College and the New York State Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors, Inc.

CMAA Moves

McLean, VA — The Construction Management Association of America has moved its headquarters to a new location that more than doubles its office space.

NCCER Announces Trustees

Gainesville, FL — The National Center for Constructin Education and Research has announced its 2007 Board of Trustees. Steve Halverson of The Haskell Company will serve as vice chairman. Among the trustees are Ed Cassady of BE&K.
