New Faces at Skanska

Skanska USA Building Inc. has named Hendrik van Brenk corporate senior vice president of Health, Safety, & Environmental, working out of the Atlanta, GA, office. The firm has hired Anthony Bennett as a vice president for the Skanska Pharmaceutical Group, based in the Blue Bell, PA, office.

Gatto Joins Austin AECOM

Chicago, IL — David Gatto has recently joined the Austin AECOM team to serve as director of construction for the Midwest Region.

Clayco Spins Off Division

St. Louis, MO — Clayco has spun off its concrete division, Clayco TiltUp, as an independent company, Concrete Strategies Inc. Joe Vitale will be principal and president.

Centex Acquired

Dallas, TX — Centex Construction has been acquired by Balfour Beatty plc, a key milestone in the British construction, services, and investment group’s plans to expand its presence in the US building market.

New URS Office

Rutland, VT — URS Corporation has opened an office in Vermont to provide engineering and consulting services in the environmental, health and safety, and transportation sectors.

Design-Build Gains Momentum

Calabasas, CA — Landscape development firm ValleyCrest Companies began offering integrated design-build services to its large commercial and public customers a year ago. The company currently has $30 million in new design-build projects underway.

EMCOR Recognized

Philadelphia, PA — EMCOR Services Fluidics received the 2006 Safety Excellence Award from the General Building Contractors Association.

B&V Tops in China

Beijing, China — Black & Veatch has been selected by H20-china.com as one of the top consulting companies operating in the China water industry during 2006.

Two Project Awards

Las Vegas, NV — Two Clark & Sullivan projects have received awards. The Mills Lane Project was awarded the Top Public Project Over $25 Million by Southwest Contractor Magazine. Their Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District Project was the recipient of the AGC PINNACLE Award for Sensitivity to the Environment.

Partnering Award for Flintco

San Antonio, TX — Flintco, Inc., was honored by the Associated General Contractors of America as a Special Recognition Winner of the 2007 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award. The award was given based on the firm’s successful partnering program on the $93.5 million Federal Correctional Institution-Medium Security project for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Pollock, LA.

B&V Patents Process

Kansas City, MO — Black & Veatch has received a patent for an anaerobic digester cover that solves a significant wastewater operations problem.
