Carl Azar is the vice president of marketing and product development for ColumbiaSoft. An entrepreneur and business process expert, Azar possesses a talent for bringing new products to market that solve critical business issues. In more than 30 years of technology leadership, Azar has formulated marketing and product initiatives at firms like Mentor Graphics, Floating Point Systems, and Merant. Azar also co-founded Synergy Dataworks, where he was instrumental in developing new technologies for engineering computing systems. Azar’s system architecture, engineering and product marketing experience provide a foundation for effective leadership in product solutions and marketing at ColumbiaSoft.
Walker Lee Evey is the president & CEO of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). Prior to DBIA, Evey served as senior vice president of 3D/International Inc., a design, management, and construction company that employs 600 professionals in 18 offices nationwide. While at 3D/International, he took a leave of absence to serve as senior adviser to the Iraqi Ministry of Housing and Construction in their rebuilding efforts. Before joining 3D/International’s team, Evey was the program manager for the 10-year, $4 billion Pentagon Renovation Program. He also served as the principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense for all matters relating to the program. In that capacity, he championed the use of design-build delivery, achieving significant cost savings and rapid project completion.
Robert J. Hartung, DBIA, a Designated Design-Build Professional™, is an industry representative on the American Institute of Architects’ California Council Definitions Committee and the AIA Integrated Project Delivery Guide Committee. As a part of his distinguished career, Hartung has been a practitioner in many design-build projects, including the Department of Defense, elementary and secondary schools, and state universities, and the private sector for more than 20 years. He is an expert and leader in design-build and alternative delivery methods and is a frequent speaker at various workshops and university classrooms. His consulting company, Alternative Delivery Solutions LLC, assists public and private owners who want more integration and collaboration for their projects. Hartung is a California licensed general contractor and currently serves on the board of directors of the DBIA Western Pacific Region, where he chairs the legislative committee.
Mark P. Shambaugh, P.E., DBIA, is president and chief executive officer of Shambaugh & Son, L.P. After graduating from Purdue, he joined Shambaugh’s Mechanical Division, handling estimating, engineering, and project management tasks. He then went on to lead the company’s technology strategy by developing and designing the firm’s in-house computerized estimating system and implementing the company’s computer assisted design drafting approach in the 1970s. Today he oversees the firm’s operations. He is a charter member of DBIA, served on the board of directors for six years, and was chairman in 2002.
