Promotions and New Hires

New CEO at Mortenson

Minneapolis, Minn. — On Feb. 8 Mortenson Construction announced the promotion of Tom Gunkel to the role of chief executive officer and president.

Barsella Promoted

CHICAGO, Ill. — Austin AECOM promoted Bill Barsella, P.E., S.E., to Midwest region vice president and director of architectural/engineering services.

MBP Promotes Two

FAIRFAX, Va. — McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc. promoted Jim Mascaro, P.E., CCP, and Don Young, P.E., CCM, to associate.

Clayco Expands Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Clayco Inc. has named Russ Burns president and added four new owners — Paul Giacoletto, Kevin McKenna, Tom Sieckhaus and P. Kirk Warden, AIA. In addition, John Gillespie has joined the firm as a project manager.

Changes at CH2M HILL

DENVER, Colo. — CH2M HILL has appointed Thomas Searle president and group chief executive of its international business.

Robert Bailey will assume Searle’s former role as president of the water group. In addition, Don Evans is now vice chair and chief marketing officer of CH2M HILL Companies Ltd.; Mark Lasswell is now president and group chief executive for the Civil Infrastructure Group; and Elisa Speranza succeeds Lasswell as president of CH2M HILL OMI.

Fentress Promotes 16

DENVER, Colo. — Fentress Architects announced the promotion of 16 employees. Principals Bob Louden, Karen Gilbert and Tom Theobald bring the firm’s total to nine.

Other promotions include Greg Billingham and Jack Cook to associate principal; Mark Rothman, Robin Ault and Alex Thorne to senior associate; and Amber Bartosh, William Vinyard, Dee Rendon, Andre Vite, Dave Tidey, Tracy Matteson, Martin Eiss and Al Roberts to associate.

GM Honors Barton Malow

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Barton Malow Company was among 12 suppliers honored on Jan. 17 by General Motors for outstanding performance and for supporting GM’s product efforts.

Ellis Retires

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — After 25 years of service, Jim Ellis, vice president of Barton Malow Specialty Contracting and Rigging Division  co-founder, retired Jan. 31.

MBP Updates Corporate Structure

FAIRFAX, Va. — McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc. has begun 2008 with a new corporate structure. Frank A. McDonough, P.E., has stepped down as chairman of the board and officer of the firm but will continue as chairman emeritus and claims consultant. Charles E. Bolyard, Jr., PSP, CFCC, will take over as chairman of the board/CEO and Blake V. Peck, P.E., CCM, will be president/COO.

Green Growth

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Barton Malow late last year had grown its number of Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®) accredited employees to 37. These professionals play an active role in the promotion and education of building green and are deeply involved in projects that are currently seeking LEED certification or have been LEED certified.
