Walter Reed on the Move
BETHESDA, Md. — Clark/Balfour Beatty joint venture will receive a little more than $109 million in its the first increment of a firm-fixed price contract for the design and construction of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. This is the initial funding for the design-build project, which is expected to be completed by July 2011. The total contract award is estimated at about $641 million. The project will establish Walter Reed at the current location of the National Naval Medical Center, as a result of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission initiatives from 2005.
Corps Chooses Hensel-Phelps
FORT MEADE, Md. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, awarded a $369.6 million design-build contract to Hensel-Phelps Construction Co. Feb. 29 for its Defense Information Systems Agency headquarters. The project will be constructed on a 95-acre site on the grounds of Fort Meade and cover more than a million square feet. The facility will consolidate the operations of about 4,000 employees who work in and around Northern Virginia and other parts of the country. The project is expected to take three years to complete.
MBP Gives Corps Value
COLUMBIA, Md. — McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc. will perform construction management services on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District. The $30 million, five-year contract will support more than $8 billion in construction.
Glendale Selects CH2M HILL
PHOENIX — The city of Glendale, Ariz., has selected CH2M HILL to provide project management, engineering design, permitting and construction services for the Zone 4 Groundwater Treatment Plant project.
