London Calling
LONDON — Thames Water has appointed CH2M HILL as program manager for the Thames Tideway Tunnel scheme to help deliver the “super-sewer” that will prevent overflows from London’s sewers entering the Thames River. The project will involve the construction of London’s deepest tunnel ever — up to 80 meters below ground level — and spanning 32 kilometers beneath the river.

Elmhurst Gets Green Nod
DARIEN, Ill. — The DuPage Community Foundation recently awarded Elmhurst College a grant to support various “green” initiatives. These initiatives are part of an ongoing $23 million campus redevelopment project implemented by Wight & Company.
VA Gets Traffic Facelift
NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. — Joseph J. Henderson & Son Inc. is design-building a new $16 million parking and infrastructure project — including a staff parking area, four-story parking garage for patients, a new entryway and traffic light and utility work — to accommodate expansion at the North Chicago VA Medical Center. Completion is expected in June 2008.

PITTSBURGH — When Eaton Corp. hired Clayco to design-build its Electrical Group headquarters in the late 1990s, the facility was designed with an eye to future expansion. The future is now, and Clayco is working on design-build plans with Eaton to expand the building.
Completed Projects
Banking on Clayco
ST. LOUIS — Clayco Inc. has recently completed two design-build projects for banking institutions. The new headquarters for Mercantile Bank, in Quincy, Ill., opened in January 2008. Forum Studio Inc. served as the architect for the project. And, in the same month, a new facility for Fort Knox Federal Credit union opened in central Kentucky.

WASHINGTON — Clark Construct Group, LLC, has completed construction on the Capitol View building. Designed by Shalom Baranes Associates, the 12-story 317,000- square-foot building features office space, street-level retail space and three levels of below-grade parking.
Clayco Gives Credit
BRISTOL, Tenn. — On Dec. 19, United Southeast Federal Credit Union opened its new 16,000-square-foot headquarters, designed and constructed by Clayco Inc. The building was designed to allow for future expansion.
