DBIA Heats Up Washington: “Super Seminar” is June 20

With integrated project delivery’s exponential growth in federal government projects, DBIA’s Super Seminar on June 20 will offer an exclusive and intensive one-day program to ensure that federal owners have the tools to maximize design-build project delivery.

Attendees will learn how to deliver high-performance design and construction that saves money, saves time, increases quality, and is completed with little or no litigation. Understanding the “how to” of design-build is the first essential step of the process. Through application of the three most crucial and synergistic elements of design-build — well-developed performance requirements, effective source selection process to ensure the right team and aspirational contracts that provide for rewards and incentives — this hard-hitting program will provide a foundation for success. DBIA is so confident in the program’s success that we’re offering a money-back guarantee to those not completely satisfied. Register on-line at www.dbia.org. Once there, click the gold button that says “Education Register Now.”

We Teach How, and We Teach Now

DBIA is taking its “We Teach How” message to new heights with a new Web site feature at www.dbia.org. Just click on the “Learn About Design-Build” button on our home page and get a personal introduction to DBIA and integrated project delivery from DBIA president Lee Evey.

It’s the perfect opportunity to learn DBIA’s owner objectives for 2008, get a historical snapshot of DBIA since its inception 15 years ago and learn the reasons design-build is the best delivery method for your integrated design and construction project.

In addition, visitors get an overview of DBIA’s education programs, in which the institute is so confident that we offer a money-back guarantee. All of the features of the short video teach the step-by-step process with which to assemble an award winning design-build team. These essential tools and information can drive high-quality projects with reduced cost, on a reduced schedule and with much less litigation.

The journey begins at www.dbia.org.

Annual Conference In Sight

DBIA members and others interested in the latest in design-build need to visit www.designbuildexpo.com and register for the 2008 Design-Build Conference & Expo. The Nov. 3-5 series of events at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas will bring attendees the latest design-build information, education and also entertainment.

Already confirmed as speakers for the event are Don Shula, former NFL Hall of Fame head coach, Anthony A. Marnell II, CEO and chairman of Marnell Corrao Associates Inc., and Norbert W. Young, president of McGraw-Hill Construction.

Attendees will also get the latest on a variety of design-build topics. Among the possibilities:

The “Owner” Perspective — Those involved in transportation, water/wastewater, federal facilities, healthcare, educational, hospitality or other segment can find out how to improve their own projects.

Legal Issues — Despite limited litigation involved in most design-build projects, design-builders will get the latest information about contracts, legal risks and how to manage them.

Specialty Contractor Integration — With specialty contractors an integral part of a successful design-build team, DBIA wants to emphasize their importance early in a design-build project.

Integrated Processes — Integrated concepts, geared toward an all-encompassing lifecycle management are extremely important this year. Use of design-build and building information modeling, integrated costing, sustainability and value engineering, among others are crucial for the design-builder of the future.

But you can’t attend if you don’t register. Visit www.designbuildexpo.com today.
