Binney Joins B&V
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Peter Binney has joined Black & Veatch as director of sustainable planning. With sustainability such a significant factor in project planning, project owners now include it in their initial stages. Binney brings more than 30 years of experience in both the public and private sector, as well as owner’s and design-builder’s perspectives.
Clayco Boosts Staff
ST. LOUIS — Elizabeth Lohman has joined Clayco Inc. as a project engineer. She will oversee design coordination, pre- and post-construction services and construction management, as well as bid solicitation, bid package preparation and analysis, shop drawing review, material procurement and expediting and document control. Andrea Nickrent has signed on with Clayco as a graphics/marketing specialist.
Carson Moves Up
OMAHA, Neb. — Kleinfelder has selected Joel Carson as its new Central Division manager, promoting him from Great Plains regional manager, where he developed a team that supported increased business development and growth in the firm’s regional operations.
Fentress Hires 10
DENVER — Fentress Architects has hired 10 new employees: Jeffrey Anglada, Nathan Kibler-Silengo and Eric Zenoni, architects; Matt Johnson, Marisa Pickard and Amber Wittwer, architectural interns; Tucker Piontek, model shop intern; Sylvia McLean, executive assistant; Katia Terletskaya, interior design intern; and Jennifer Linde-Wilson, interior designer.
Dahlberg Promoted
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Haskell has promoted Matt Dahlberg, AIA, DBIA, LEED AP, to architect in its Civil Public Facilities Group. Dahlberg was an early graduate of DBIA board member Dr. Barbara Jackson’s design-build program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Calif., and has worked on both design and construction in his four years with Haskell.

Grand Award for Walter P Moore
HOUSTON — WALTER P MOORE announced May 19 that it has won a Grand Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies’ annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition for its role in the design of the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. (See the June 2008 DATELINE for a project profile.)
Bridge Honored
OAKLAND, Calif. — California’s Transportation Foundation honored the project team, the California Department of Transportation and the joint venture of CH2M HILL and T.Y. Lin International with the Project of the Year Award for the I-680 Benicia-Martinez Bridge. The award was presented at the 19th annual TRANNY Award luncheon on June 4; the awards recognize excellence in California transportation projects. In addition, the American Road and Transportation Builders Association Development Foundation awarded the project an honorable mention Globe Award.

Marko Appointed
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York Gov. David Patterson has appointed Matthew J. Marko, PE, as trustee for the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Marko is a senior project manager with CH2M HILL’s water business group.
