NAVFAC Picks Team
FAIRFAX, Va. — The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has selected the Parsons team, which includes McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc., to provide construction management services in support of its $1 billion construction program at Camp Lejeune, N.C. In addition, the team will provide support to the multi-billion-dollar construction program at Hampton Roads, Va., and the northeastern U.S.
B&V Selected
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Black & Veatch has received a contract award to perform a preliminary engineering design project at the Wylie Water Treatment Plant Complex operated by the North Texas Municipal Water District. The design for the 770-million-gallons-per-day plant will include the addition of ozone technology for drinking water disinfection as well as taste and odor control. In addition, B&V will evaluate the water treatment process and formulate a plan to ensure efficiency and sustainability and minimize plant operating costs. B&V should complete preliminary design by April 2009 and the final design a year later. The project should be operationally complete in 2013.
Banking on Clayco
ST. LOUIS — Clayco Inc. was recently named design-builder on a new 4,000-square-foot Gainesville Branch facility for Northwest Federal Credit Union. The new facility will be the credit union’s second branch in Prince William County, Va. A single-story brick building, the branch will feature time-saving amenities such as a 24-hour drive-up ATM, full-service night depository, two-way video drive-through banking and safe deposit boxes with a state-of-the-art hand entry system.
Fentress to Display Museum
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Historical Society has chosen Fentress Architects as the designer of its new Arizona History Museum. The design process is expected to take one year, with ground-breaking planned for 2009. Construction cost is estimated at $50 million.
Pro Con’s Solutions
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Pro Con Inc. will provide design-build services for Weston Solutions’ new regional office in Manchester. As part of the design process, Pro Con led space programming, scheduling, cost estimating and concept plan development. The firm has prepared preliminary design plans and specifications and is working with Weston to obtain planning board approvals. The primary objective of the project is to create a highly efficient LEED®-certified green building. The building will feature a high-efficiency boiler and mechanical systems, solar hot water or electricity, light shelves and sun shades, on-site storm water management system, low-flow water fixtures, durable and renewable products and natural ventilation.
