Lubbers Joins Wight
CHICAGO — Michael J. Lubbers, AIA, LEED AP, has joined Wight & Company as the new senior designer in their Chicago office. Lubbers has extensive experience in the Chicago design arena, including acting as a design lead for several large urban mixed-use projects.
Changes at Clayco
ST. LOUIS — Clayco Inc. has promoted Lance Cage to senior vice president of Clayco Realty Group. In this new position, Cage will manage all stages of real estate development projects. In addition, Clayco has hired Anthony Johnson as project executive. Johnson will work within the firm’s industrial business unit to manage site selection, entitlements, land acquisition, design and construction of various buildings.
BIM Expansion
ST. LOUIS — KAI Design & Build has expanded its Building Information Modeling department with the addition of architectural specialist Arno Sandoval. With nearly 10 years of experience in the industry, more than six of them working with Revit and BIM, Sandoval will be responsible for the design and production of architectural projects and assisting the firm’s BIM coordinator with developing standards and content to improve the firm’s efficiency.

Awards for Wight
DARIEN, Ill. — Wight & Company has won six awards for its public projects from a variety of organizations. Their Battle Stations 21 (see the December 2008 issue of Design-Build DATELINE for details) won DBIA’s first Best Overall Project award and the Best Public Sector Building over $15 million. In addition, their Preston Bradley Hall Tiffany Dome at the Chicago Cultural Center won Midwest Construction magazine’s Project of the Year award in the Renovation/Restoration, small project category and the Chicago Landmark Award for Preservation. In the same competition, the firm’s Lemont High School won Project of the Year in the K-12 education category. ACEC Illinois awarded the firm an Engineering Excellence Award — Special Achievement for the Army Trail Road Rubberized Asphalt (“Green Pavement”) pilot project and a Merit Award for sustainable site design for the Elmhurst College West Hall project.
B&V Wins Conservation Award
REDHILL, United Kingdom — A nitrate treatment plant constructed by Black & Veatch has won the South Staffordshire Council Conservation and Design Award 2008 in the New Build category. The plant at Bratch Pumping Station, in Wombourne in the West Midlands, earned the award by providing “A clever and thoughtful approach to solving a number of technical constraints and issues,” according to award judges.

RICHMOND, Va. — Hankins and Anderson Inc. announced its board of directors members for 2009: Craig S. Newton, P.E., senior vice president, will serve as chairman; Steve M. Pearson, AIA, PMP, vice president, as secretary; Larry J. Willis, P.E., as treasurer; Benjamin A. Lilly, P.E., as vice president, and John T. Riding, P.E., senior vice president, as board members.
New B&V Office
MILWAUKEE — Due to growth in its water business, on Dec. 17 Black & Veatch opened a new office here. While the firm has had clients in Wisconsin, the new office will help the firm serve them better by providing local access to professionals. Members in the News, associate vice president and client service manager, will serve as the office leader and manage business development and client service activities.
