Midwest Commerce Center
ST. LOUIS — Design-builder Clayco will soon begin construction the Midwest Commerce Center in Gardner, Kan., a new, 1 million-plus square-foot distribution facility for Coleman, an international leader in the innovation and marketing of outdoor products.
USAA Real Estate Company of San Antonio, Texas, and LS Commercial Real Estate of Overland Park, Kan., is developing the center. Site development work includes grading, road construction and sewer and water work. The industrial park is planned to house five buildings totaling more than 2.2 million square feet of warehouse space on the more than 150-acre site.
The distribution warehouse will be a single-story, tilt-up structure with 32-foot clear heights within in the Midwest Commerce Center. The Wichita-based manufacturer of camping and outdoor sports equipment will house more than 200 employees.
Joining the design-builder on the project is Forum Studio, architect and interior designer; Stock & Associates Consulting Engineers, civil engineer; Peridian Group, civil engineer; and Alper Audi, structural engineer.
Clayco should complete the design-build project in November.
Parris Island Training Barracks
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando office of VOA Associates Incorporated, architecture, planning and interior design will provide design and construction services for a new training barracks complex at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. VOA was commissioned to serve as the “designer of record” for the design-build project, providing full architectural and interior design services in partnership with Walton Construction, LLC, New Orleans, as general contractor.
The project goal is a LEED® Silver rating; construction is scheduled to begin this month.
