Job Task Analysis Underway
The Designated Design-Build Professional™ has become an industry-recognized credential identifying professionals to owners and the community-at-large as experienced design-build professionals who have demonstrated knowledge and experience. There are approximately 600 industry leaders who have earned the right to display DBIA™ after their name, and equally as many in the pipeline seeking this valuable credential.
In order to maintain the credibility of this growing program and to establish content validity, a Job Task Analysis (JTA) is currently underway. The JTA consists of gathering and analyzing data from incumbents in the field to list and quantify the day-to-day activities that make up the work of a design-build professional. DBIA will use both survey and focus group methodology to gather the data. The survey will be sent to an appropriately drawn sample of industry professionals, and will be completed by the end of May. If you are selected to take part in the survey process, we urge you to complete the survey and play a pivotal role in enhancing and refining this growing program.
Announcing the “Associate DBIA™”
The growth in the use of design-build has resulted in a growing demand for qualified design-build professionals. DBIA constantly receives inquiries from emerging professionals who lack hands-on experience, but who want a way to demonstrate their knowledge of design-build. In response to this demand, DBIA is pleased to announce our new entry-level certification – the “Associate DBIA™.
Individuals seeking the Associate DBIA™ are still required to complete core education and to pass the comprehensive exam. However, these individuals will not need to demonstrate hands-on experience, but will have up to seven years to do so before moving up to the professional DBIA™.

DBIA extends a special thanks to the 2009 certification board for their efforts to lead the enhancement and expansion of our certification program.
