Sundt Additions
In June, Lawrence W. Cabodi and Denise Levesque joined Sundt Construction Inc.’s Sacramento office. Cabodi is a senior project superintendent, currently working on the new University of California, Davis, Graduate School of Management & Conference Center. Levesque is the project administrator for the California State University, East Bay Recreation and Wellness Center project.

Hankins and Anderson Inc. has promoted Carl A. Cunningham, P.E., LEED AP, William A. Goode, Jr., P.E., LEED AP and William C. Wheeler, P.E., PMP, LEED AP, to senior associates. Mark R. Leonardo, P.E., Eric J. Shelton, P.E., Stefana N. Petrova, Peter R. Chamberlain, P.E., CEM, LEED AP, Vernon A. Shaw, Donald G. Griffith, Patricia Beasley, PHR, Mark Durham, P.E., PMP, Katonda L. Potts, Cory M. Piland, PMP, LEED AP and David L. Hosfeld have all been promoted to associate. The Glen Allen office welcomes Chris Barrar, EIT, to the Structural Department, Jo W. Potts to the IT Department, and Darlene M. Blake-Murillo to the Human Resources Department.
New Leadership at Cutler
In early July, Cutler Associates of Worcester, Mass., announced that long-time president Frederic Mulligan, P.E., DBIA, was named chairman, and Ernest O’Brien was appointed president. In addition, the firm has named Robert Stephens as director of business development, healthcare, in their Worcester, Mass., office.

Waters Commended
On June 9, Tom Waters, vice president and principal program manager for the Global Water Business Group of CH2M HILL, was recognized with the award for Meritorious Achievement in Floodplain Management by the Association of State Flood Plain Managers. The award honors those who have achieved success in a significant aspect of floodplain management, including education, government, policy, research, litigation, outreach and implementation and recognizes achievements in the advancement of flood loss reduction within the nominee’s professional realm.

Centennial Alliance with OSHA
Centennial Contractors Enterprises and Region X of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have signed an alliance establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces.

Balfour Beatty Supports GMU Event
On June 11, John Tarpey, president and CEO of Balfour Beatty Construction’s Washington Division, spoke on a panel at George Mason University’s Vendor Opportunity Fair. The panel of five business leaders discussed what companies can do to meet the challenges posed by the current economy.
Historic Employer Partnership
On July 2, the U.S. Army Reserve and Helmets to Hardhats signed an innovative employer partnership agreement that recognizes their mutual goals of developing long-term, skill-based career opportunities for America’s military service members in the construction industry.
New Executive Director at SFPE
The Society of Fire Protection Engineers has named Allan Freedman as its fourth executive director. Freedman comes from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, where he was managing director for two divisions.
NAMC Names New President
The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) has named Francis Onwualu to a two-year term as president of their national board. NAMC was established in 1969 to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors, but its mandate, “Building Bridges — Crossing Barriers,” embraces the activities of all in the industry. Onwualu owns and operates both Grand Development and Grand Building Supply in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.
