CDM Partners in Saudi Arabia
CDM and Miahona (Our Water), a subsidiary of ACWA Power Development, have announced their new partnership to execute water projects in Saudi Arabia. Through this collaboration, CDM and Miahona will managing engineering and consulting for water sector projects.
Two Projects for B&V
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has selected Black & Veatch as the design engineer for the McCook Reservoir Main Tunnel. The project is a key component of Chicago’s Tunnel and Reservoir Plan; it will connect the future McCook Reservoir to Chicago’s Deep Tunnel System.
Black & Veatch is also designing and overseeing construction for one of the largest energy recovery projects of its kind on the East Coast for the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) in Hartford, Conn. at its Water Pollution Control Facility.
Four Awards for Balfour Beatty
Balfour Beatty Construction has recently been awarded four projects across Florida. They are: a new research facility at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Vero Beach; the Blanche Ely High School stadium in Pompano; construction manager at-risk services for roadway and infrastructure projects for Manatee County; and preconstruction services for the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center in Orlando.

New CSU Facilities
Sundt Construction Inc. is construction manager at risk for several projects for the California State University, East Bay, in Hayward, Calif. The centerpiece of the work is a $17.7 million, 55,000-square-foot recreation and wellness center. The center was designed to be equivalent to a LEED® Silver certified building. Sundt is also planning the construction of a 24,000-square-foot facility that will house a multipurpose gym and a number of fitness and aerobic rooms. All of the work is scheduled to be completed in late 2010.
