JOC for Centennial
In early September 2009, the Indian Health Service awarded Centennial Contractors Enterprises a Job Order Contract (JOC) to perform work in Oklahoma, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. The one-year JOC has the option to be extended for four additional years. It covers the repair, alteration, modernization, rehabilitation and construction of property under the control of Indian Health Services. It has an annual maximum of $15 million.
Consulting Services Contract for SCS
In September the city of Chula Vista, Calif., awarded a contract to SCS Engineers to provide greenhouse gas emissions report verification services for the city’s 2008 emissions report. SCS will verify the 2008 greenhouse gas emissions inventory by identifying emission sources, reviewing reporting methodology and management systems and verifying actual emissions estimates.
GSA Selects MBP
The U.S. General Services Administration Mid-Atlantic region selected McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc. to provide full-time construction management services over the next year at the Boggs Federal Courthouse in Wilmington, Del., and on multiple projects funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. One project, for the Northeast/Caribbean Region, is a $5 million, five-year construction management services contract supporting New York, northern New Jersey and the Caribbean. GSA also selected the joint venture of MBP-AECOM for a $25 million, five-year construction management services contract supporting Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and southern New Jersey.

Four Schools Nearing Completion
In late August, Sundt Construction Inc. was nearing completion of a $7 million revitalization project for four Washoe County (Nev.) elementary schools. The project included HVAC upgrades, significant power and information technology data upgrades, remodeling all classrooms and bathrooms, installing new thermal windows and doors and upgrades to the administrative areas.

B&V Completes Projects in Asia
Black & Veatch has completed the rehabilitation of the first of five water mains that lie beneath the heavily trafficked Lion Rock Tunnel in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The company is using innovative trenchless technology for the Lion Rock water mains to reduce the impact on commuters.
Sembcorp Industries
On August 26, 2009, Black & Veatch announced that State 1 of the Sembcorp Changi NEWater in Singapore had started commercial operations. B&V provided full design engineering for the plant as well as construction support and commissioning services.
SCS Completes Assessments
SCS Engineers completed several Phase I environmental site assessments and subsurface investigations on behalf of the city of San Marcos, Calif., which is redeveloping the San Marcos Creek District. The San Marcos plan establishes the redevelopment, growth and conservation of 214 acres along the creek to convert an underutilized and flood-prone area of suburban strip commercial development into a mixed-use downtown.
Students Move In
In early September 2009, students at Ave Maria University moved into the new 552-bed, 130,000-square-foot housing facility. The entire $25 million project took just under 16 months to complete, with time to spare before the move-in date. Haskell provided the university with architecture, engineering, construction and furnishings, giving the university a single source for the complete project.

Six Certified
Wight & Company recently earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design™ (LEED) Gold certification for six of its projects. The six projects were: West Hall at Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Ill.; The 9th District Police Station, Chicago; Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Atlantic Hall No. 3, Great Lakes, Ill.; Phase 2, Corporate Financial Institution, Chicago; Phase 3, Corporate Financial Institution, Chicago; and a laboratory in a northern Chicago suburb.
