Promotions and New Hires

Fentress Hires Four

Fentress Architects has announced the addition of four prominent interior designers to its team: Mark McPherson as director of interiors, Carol Koplin and Kristine Rouse as senior interior designers and Ann Marie Roy as an interior project architect.

New Position for Roell

Effective October 1, 2009, Parsons has appointed Thomas L. Roell to the newly created position of group executive for operations and risk. The position was created to better position Parsons for operational risk management.

MBP adds Two

Paul Grosskruger, P.E., has joined McDonough Bolyard Peck Inc. as a senior project manager. He will be managing operations in Florida and reporting to the Southeast Regional Office. In addition, Graham Stewart, P.E., LEED AP, will be overseeing the firm’s Philadelphia branch.

New Faces at H&A

Hankins and Anderson Inc. is pleased to announce the following new employees: Timothy J. Wedin as a program manager in the production department; Tom Capece, electrical engineer, in the electrical department; and Emmitt Parkman, Jr., fire protection CADD technician in the life safety department, in the Glen Allen office. The San Diego office has added James I. Johnson, P.E., senior electrical engineer, in the electrical department; Dylan Hirsch, project manager in the production department; Kim Wall, E.I.T., electrical engineer, in the electrical department; and Louis Guidi, mechanical designer in the mechanical department.

Strayer Joins B&V

Black & Veatch is pleased to announce that James Strayer, P.E., has joined the firm’s global water business as director of infrastructure planning.

CH2M HILL Adds Jackson

In October 2009, Dennis Jackson joined CH2M HILL as a senior utility management consultant for the Water Business Group in the firm’s Denver, Colo., office. In this role he will help clients establish appropriate financial goals and policies to achieve overall utility system objectives.

New Personnel at Parsons

Parsons is pleased to announce that James A. Caston has joined the company as vice president, project controls, for its infrastructure & technology group; Daven Oswalt as vice president, business development, for the water & infrastructure group; and Hamed I. Zaghw as manager for the road & highway division.

Awards and Honors

WEF Honors B&V Personnel

James H. Clark, P.E., a vice president of Black & Veatch, was selected by the Water Environment Federation as the 2009 recipient of the organization’s Engelbrecht International Achievement Award. The award was presented at the WEF Awards and Presidential Celebration Reception during the organization’s technical exhibition and conference on October 13, 2009. At the same ceremony, Dr. Richard Kuchenrither, a vice president and a global practice & technology leader with B&V, was also honored by WEF as the 2009 recipient of the Emerson Distinguished Service Medal.

Hall of Fame Award for Messer

In September, Raymond F. Messer, P.E., president and CEO of WALTER P MOORE, was presented with The Alumni Hall of Fame Award of Carroll College for his outstanding stewardship of his community and the college.

Industry News

B&V Staff in Industry Leadership

Terry Johnson, Ph.D., senior vice president for Black & Veatch’s global water business, was appointed to the Water Environment Research Foundation’s Research Council in October 2009. He will serve in the “Consulting Sector” role, where he will help shape and define future research areas for the organization. Also in October, Matt Bond began his term as vice president for the Water Environment Federation; this year, he will become president-elect and, in 2011, president of the organization. Joe Mantua, current president-elect, will assume the role of president of the American Water Works Association in June of this year.
