Promotions and New Hires

Changes at H&A

On November 30, 2009, Hankins and Anderson Inc. announced its Board of Directors for 2010: Steven Pearson, AIA, vice president of military programs, will serve as chairman; Patti Beasley, human resources manager, as secretary; Larry Willis, P.E., vice president of government programs, treasurer; and John Riding, P.E., senior vice president and director of military programs, and Dennis Standbridge, PMP, senior vice president and director of operations, will serve as board members.

The firm is also pleased to announce two new employees: Tom Capece has joined the firm’s Glen Allen office as an electrical engineer and James I. Johnson, P.E., has joined the San Diego office as a senior electrical engineer.

Kelly Joins B&V

Eamonn Kelly will join Black & Vetch as the new managing director for South Asia Pacific early next year. Kelly will be responsible for growing B&V’s water business throughout the region; he will be based in Melbourne, Australia.

GeoStructures Inc. Achieves Certification

On November 6, 2009, GeoStructures Inc. of Purcellville, Va., was named a Certified Green Contractor by the Associated Builders and Contractors, whose Green Contractor Certification program recognizes construction companies that implement green practices and principles in the workplace.

Southern Water Chooses B&V

Southern Water has chosen Black & Veatch as one of the partners on its AMP5 Professional Services Framework. Being part of the framework means B&V is able to bid for professional services work on the water company’s 2010 to 2015 capital program. Southern Water provides water supplies for people in Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Swaim to Lead IUVA

Paul D. Swaim, P.E., vice president and global technology leader for water treatment with CH2M HILL, has been elected president-elect of the International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA). His term will begin in 2011 and continue for two years. IUVA focuses on UV technology as applied to water, wastewater, reuse and air treatment.
