Owners are organizations and individuals who control the design and construction decision process. Owners decide what is built, when and how. Owners with vision are choosing to accomplish an ever-increasing percentage of their design and construction requirements using design-build. They recognize that successful design-build requires a higher level of learning and an improved set of skills.
DBIA offers Owners various education tools and resources:
The Owners Council is an owners-only forum that allows the opportunity to ask questions and review lessons learned with other owners experienced in design-build and various project delivery methods. To learn more, contact Lisa Washington.
DBIA's Committees offer a valuable resource for discussion and communication with industry leaders.
DBIA's 14 Regions offer networking, education, and legislative efforts at the local level. To learn more contact your local region representative or Anieca Lord .
DBIA's Conferences (Water/Wastewater, Transportation, Federal Sector and Annual) offer networking and educational opportunities with owners, engineers, contractors and other key industry leaders at the national level, and through various session tracks and on-site education courses. There is also the Owners' Forum, an Owners-only session where they discuss strategies and solutions for problems they all face. We also offer scholarships for Owners interested in attending a conference. Contact Stephenie Zvonkovich for details.
Various Education opportunities are available to Owners. Learn how to make the mental shift from design-bid-build, the roles of each key player on the design-build team, the components of the RFQ/RFP process and more in Principles of Design-Build Project Delivery.
