Each year, DBIA offers three conferences that give attendees an opportunity to learn about design-build at its best, meet industry leaders and network with owners and practitioners. The Design-Build Conference and Expo is held each autumn and covers the widest range of design-build projects. The Design-Build in Transportation and Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conferences focus on those industry segments, offering a more detailed view of those specialties. And, for those interested in government projects, there is the Federal Sector Conference. All conferences feature the Owners’ Forums, which give project owners an opportunity to meet with their peers and discuss problems and solutions common to all.
Members continue their professional education with DBIA’s nationwide education tour. DBIA is committed to improving the practice of design-build by teaching “how” – practical information on the day-to-day process of getting and completing a project. We believe it is in everyone’s best interest to have the most accomplished practitioners using design-build, both for individuals, for the community at large and for DBIA. Members receive significant discounts on all courses.
And education is the starting point for earning a design-build credential – either the Designated Design-Build Professional™ credential, or, for those involved in the pre-award process or new to the industry, the Associate Design-Build Professional™. Not only is this credential often preferred, if not required, for a number of jobs in design and construction, it’s the sign of a professional with proven expertise in the design-build field.
All DBIA members receive the new quarterly magazine, IQ: Integration Quarterly, as a benefit of membership. It’s a source for information about the industry, showcasing outstanding projects and people. And in 2010 we began sending out Design-Build Insight, a weekly e-newsletter to members, linking them to the latest news about design-build, highlighting upcoming national and local events and advertising RFQs and RFPs in design-build.
In addition, members receive a discount on all purchases of publications available through our Online Bookstore. These include the DBIA Contract Documents.
Business Growth Tools
DBIA members have access to a number of tools to help them not only work well, but work more. We have our own Project Leads page, but members also get a subscription to epipeline with their membership, opening the door to a host of new business opportunities. Our legislative pages point out where the government needs design-builders and which agencies will be writing contracts. The annual DBIA Membership Directory is a source of information about professionals who are serious about design-build, while our online Find a Member search engine leads owners to them. In addition, at the many DBIA events throughout the year, members have an opportunity to meet their peers, network with potential partners, talk about upcoming projects with owners.
