Membership

Individual Membership

Individual members span the entire spectrum of design and construction professionals including architects, engineers, specialty contractors, owners, consultants, lawyers, business development professionals, students and academia. Individual membership is a way for those whose organizations have not yet decided to become DBIA Industry Partner to become that organization’s design-build champion, leading the way for others.

Benefits

DBIA Individual members receive preferential access to all of DBIA’s events and products, as well as substantial discounts on all our products and services. Members also have access to a number of business growth tools, such as epipeline, DBIA’s own project leads page, legislative reports and the annual Membership Directory.

Conferences

Each year, DBIA offers three conferences that give attendees an opportunity to learn about design-build at its best, meet industry leaders and network with owners and practitioners. The Design-Build Conference and Expo is held each autumn and covers the widest range of design-build projects. The Design-Build in Transportation and Design-Build for Water/Wastewater Conferences focus on those industry segments, offering a more detailed view of those specialties. All conferences feature the Owners’ Forums, which give project owners an opportunity to meet with their peers and discuss problems and solutions common to all.

Education and Professional Development

The Designated Design-Build Professional™ credential has become a respected indicator of an individual’s commitment to their knowledge and expertise in their field. It’s often preferred, if not required, for some positions and for project team leaders. DBIA’s core courses are required to earn this credential and the elective courses will help maintain it. While membership in DBIA is not required to be a Designated Design-Build Professional, members receive discounts on the courses and conferences needed to earn this credential. And even those who are not working on earning this certification find DBIA’s courses to be an important part of their personal and professional development.

DBIA Publications

DBIA members receive the monthly journal, Design-Build Dateline, as a benefit, as well as the weekly e-newsletter, Design-Build Insight, highlighting notices of news and business opportunities. Members also receive a discount when they purchase any publication from DBIA, including the Design-Build Manual of Practice and design-build contract documents, which are only available from DBIA.

Business Growth Tools

DBIA members enjoy access to a number of business growth tools – epipeline, which brings thousands of government opportunities together; the DBIA project leads page, focusing on design-build projects; our reports on state and federal legislation affecting business; and the opportunity to meet peers, possible team members and project owners at DBIA events. The annual Membership Directory, and DBIA’s online “Find a Professional” feature, bring individuals to the attention of those who are looking for that one professional to fill a need. And the DBIA Regions offer many of the opportunities national events do on a local or regional level. Committee involvement also brings DBIA members together to work on solutions to problems they share and craft conference programs that will solve some of those problems and answer questions. And each year DBIA honors individuals who distinguish themselves in any design-build arena with the Design-Build Leadership Awards, recognizing legislators, professionals, academics and students.
